Memorable Passage

Memorable Passage
“If you were a god, how would you like being called a myth, an old story to explain lighting? What if I told you, Perseus Jackson, that someday people would call you a myth, just created to explain how little boys can get over losing their mothers?” (The Lightning Thief)
This is a quote from the Percy Jackson Series. It’s the first book called the Lightning Thief. This is memorable to me because I really liked the fiction it had in it and this quote explained it well. It shows that gods in this book are real and that they are just considered myths like in real life. It’s just cool to see everything in this book that can’t happen in real life. There’s a lot of cool powers the gods and half-bloods have that the learn to use. Also I like this quote because Percy just thinks he’s a normal human but is being told he’s a half-blood which means he’s half god. He doesn’t think it’s real and doesn’t want to believe but realizes it’s true. Now he’s being told that he himself could be a myth like all the other gods which he believed were myths. It’s just a cool chain reaction and it shows the good fiction. I really enjoyed reading this book back in the day it’s a great read just like the whole series.

  1. I remember when this series was extremely popular in middle school, but I never took the time to read it because I did not think I would enjoy the science fiction of the novel, the parts that you described kind of sounded interesting though. I am glad that you found so much enjoyment in this book.

  2. I've heard so many kids say this series was their favorite and very important to them. I guess it was kind of after my time...but I love the creative modern take on such ancient myths.
