When I read, it has to be super quiet and I need to be sitting or lying down. It needs to be darker lighting than normal because it just seems relaxing to me. When I’m relaxed and not stressed or anything it’s a lot easier to read and focus on the book. I can get through it much quicker and understand it better than just daydreaming and flipping pages. I can get distracted sometimes when I’m reading and completely lose what just happened the last few pages. It also helps when I’m warm because it makes me feel comfy.
One of my best memories connected with reading is when I did a project over a book we had read where we had to bring items to connect it to the book. This was back in like 6th grade I choose the book Zoobreak. It was one of my favorite books growing up about kids stealing animals from an awful zoo and keeping them to try and put them in a different zoo. Anyways I did my project and I remember it being so fun and I had such a great time picking out the items. I remember I got a perfect score on it and my teacher told me it was one of the best projects she had seen.
The first book I remember reading is the first book in the series the guardians of gahool. I’m not sure of the exact name of the book but it was such a great start to a great series. This stands out to me because I just loved the plot of the book and what happened. It was the story of owls and how there was the good side going up against the main side. There’s just a lot of plot action and most importantly adventure. I loved adventure whether it was games or books I just loved adventures. There was just so much to do and I loved how you advanced and got deeper into it. That’s what I really loved growing up so I really loved this book.
My favorite series is probably Percy Jackson. I loved Percy Jackson it was such a good series. I love adventure and this series was full of adventure. It was just so cool to see all the powers the half-bloods have and the adventures it lead them to. There were battles, drama, and just everything that a series needed to keep me engaged in the series. I really liked the characters to they were funny but also serious. I just really enjoyed reading Percy Jackson.
I do think think that someone who reads more will become a better writer. They get a better understand of language sentence structure and all that stuff. They also develop a better vocabulary. They just seem to understand more how to write because they read books which is just a lot of writing. Reading does help influence writing as more reading means stronger writing. It gives people a better understanding of writing and how to write and how to think in an English mind.
I totally agree with your first response. I need it to be so quiet to read and a dimly lit place, although it cannot be too dark or I will just end up falling asleep. I enjoyed reading all of your pieces on books and texts, very interesting and fun! Keep up the good work!
ReplyDeleteIt seems like you're really drawn to fantasy/action type stories in your reading...I wonder if you feel like that's what you most enjoy writing, too?
